The black sand beaches of Santorini

Indeed, Santorini is home to stretches of sand with an intriguing black color. The red beach, also known as Red Beach, is one of the places that attract the most visitors to Santorini. Nestled between the cliffs and the sea, this beach Santorini beach is however difficult to access and very small.

In Santorini, you can also go to the beach of Perissa. Picturesque, this place seduces by its expanses of sand with a dark hue. Here you can enjoy the crystal clear waters and the Mesa Vouno, a large rock plunging into the sea. You will also find a lighthouse planted on a rocky peak.

Santorini’s beaches where to stroll
In addition to the Santorini beaches with black sand, the island has other sandy stretches that are well worth a visit. If you want to combine swimming, walking and relaxing, go to Vlychada Beach. In the afternoon, the beach is quickly crowded.
Also, go there rather in the morning. Not far from there, you will discover a small port and the museum of the industrial tomato.
You wish to stroll in an extraordinary setting ? Go to White Beach. Located near Red Beach, this beach is different from its neighbor by its cliffs and its white sand. However, you should know that White Beach is only accessible by sea.
You will have to take a taxi-boat to get there. This point has an advantage, the beach is preserved from the tourist influx. To relax in complete serenity by the sea, go to Eros Beach. Quiet and isolated, this private beach of Santorini is perfect for lazing around.
You will find deckchairs and umbrellas to protect you from the sun. If you are hungry, you can go to the bar or restaurant on site.
If you want to save money, settle in the public part of Eros Beach. However, you should know that you won’t have access to the same amenities. For information, the beach is located 2 km from the main road. You can reach it by car or opt for a short walk. To enjoy a unique view of Fira and Oia during your stay in Santorini, go to Kambia Beach.
It is a small cove very isolated. To reach it, you will have to take a 4 km long dirt road, ideal for a short hike before swimming. To get there, you will also need a car, because no bus passes near Kambia Beach. You will be seduced by the pebble beach and the crystal clear waters. You like water sports ? Monolithos Beach is the perfect place to practice them.
This beach also offers other amenities, such as a basketball court and beach volleyball. Although located near old factories and the airport, this stretch of sand attracts many holidaymakers.
