The Bib Gourmand, presentation
Contrary to what some people might think, the Bib Gourmand is not a Michelin star “affordable” of the Guide Michelin. The concept of this distinction is simple: the Bib Gourmand is awarded to restaurants in which it is possible to taste 3 complete dishes for approximately 40€.

The origins of the Michelin Guide
The Michelin Guide was created in 1900 by André and Edouard Michelin. Their goal was to help drivers find places to eat on long trips. The star rating system was introduced in the 1930s.
Today, the gastronomic guide has a team of over 80 inspectors. They are the ones in charge of testing and rating more than 800 restaurants every year. Their identity is not known.
Each year, the stars are awarded to the best restaurants. But to be able to claim this distinction, the establishments must be in good standing for at least 18 months.

In Annecy, it is the restaurant Racines that has been highlighted in early February thanks to the award of a Bib Gourmand. This address, which is not to be missed by the inhabitants of Annecy, is located at Place des Cordeliers. The owners, Eva and John, received professional training in Bonneville and Thonon-les-Bains.
Today, they honor the Haute-Savoie in a sustainable cuisine, elaborated from local and fresh products. The menu is renewed regularly, according to the seasons.
And in their respectful approach towards the environment, the owners have decided to eliminate plastic bottles. The water served at the table is therefore served in a carafe and micro-filtered beforehand.

To reach the Place des Cordeliers, you can park at the Sainte-Claire parking lot. Another option, the avenue de Chambéry if you are lucky enough to find a place still free. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday:
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 12 noon to 1 p.m
From Thursday to Saturday, from 12 noon to 1 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm
Sunday from 12 noon to 1 pm
Racines is accessible to people with reduced mobility. The establishment has a terrace and can be privatized on request.
